SYNOPSIS
To kickstart the night was an energetic performance display by Kirk Franklin, who performed alongside Lil Baby. The artists turned out in whole white attires and committed to their hit song "We Win" from "Space Jam: A New Legacy." That was followed up by a performance from the undistinguished group Migos who performed two songs off their Billboard 200 number two album “Culture 3”. The astonishing group served the audience with hit songs “Straightenin” and “Type Shit” that also features Cardi B. The undeniably talented female rapper showed up on stage with a crystal baby bump that left all her fans in awe. YES! She is yet to receive a second blessing from her husband and lover, Offset.
Silk Sonic, the super duo of Anderson Paak and Bruno Mars, who later emerged as winners of the Best Group, also braced the BET stage with their hit single "Leave the Door Open." The performance looked like an old-school fairy-tale video with both artists appareling in fresh-looking blazers. The night was not about to end, as many more headliners came through with epic performances. Some of these include; the Grammy and Oscar-winning artist, H.E.R., who also celebrated her birthday on the day of the event. She played her electric guitar as she sang to her song "We made it." More of the action came in from Jazmine Sullivan, winner of the Album of the year, Lil Nas X, who completely stole the show, Megan Thee Stallion performing "Thot Shit," DaBaby who unleashed the live debut of his new song "Ball If I Want To" with his explosive energy backed up by twerking cheerleaders, gymnastics and his giant mascot Little Buddy.
A few of the artists and personalities that took home accolades include; Chris Brown (Best male R&B / pop artist), Megan Thee Stallion (Best female hip hop artist), Giveon (Best new artist), SZA (BET HER award), Savage (Remix) by Megan Thee Stallion featuring Beyonce (Viewer’s choice award), Burna Boy (Best international act), Andra Day (Best Actress), Marsai Martin (Youngstars award), and Naomi Osaka (Sportswoman of the year award).
